Back in the Michoacán highlands, in the year 1953—on December 14th, to be exact—Doña Rita Fuentes de Sánchez was born on a small ranch called Naranjo de Chila, in the municipality of Aguililla, Michoacán, Mexico. Since childhood, she loved to cook, watching closely as her mother prepared birria and other regional dishes for her father and brothers.
From that moment on, her love for cooking was born. Over time, she emigrated to the United States, where she worked in the fields, but she never forgot the culinary secrets her mother had passed down to her.
One day, she began preparing her now-famous birria at home for family gatherings and celebrations. Little by little, what had once been a dream became a reality: opening her own family restaurant.
